Feltmaking Technique

I first came in direct contact with felting techniques during a trip in 2005 to Germany and immediately saw their potential for my artwork. I adopted the wet method that offers a perfect balance between skill and happenstance to massage and fuse my "sketches" made with colorful fluffs and strands of semi-processed, dyed wool into feltworks. This process allows me to pare down images to their underlying structure and also explore them in greater depth. The vibrant and closely intertwining fibers help to create a terrain in which, upon close inspection, individual strands lead through a complex maze of surrounding fibers that shift almost imperceptibly in response to touch and change prominence under different lightings.
